Summer News

Ashleys and Asares with Bill Burch, Becca's advisor, at graduation

Here we are, on the last day of July, and life has finally settled down to a pace where I can actually catch up with the blog. Since our last Update lots has happened- Claire and I went back to the U.S. for a three month trip which entailed me successfully defending my PhD, Richard coming to help celebrate graduation, Claire spending lots of quality time with Gammy and Gampy and her uncles, and two wonderful weddings (Angela and Mike's in the Outer Banks, and Jessie and David's in London). Finally, in early July, we came back home. Needless to say, I was happy to stop living out of a suitcase and get back to our routine. Claire is now 20 months and very much the center of activity in our home. She is chattering away in English and Twi, and at some point even picked up some French phrases which she uses with the tailors across the street. Her main interests, for now, include Elmo, actually playing with her baby dolls and play kitchen, and singing songs!

Deliquent Bloggers

Somehow I have managed to completely neglect this blog for the past couple months. Vraiment pardon, sorry, me paa wo cho! Claire is now 15+ months and doing great. She has a repertoire of about 30 words and small phrases, and is totally sleeping through the night by herself, which is a huge feat for us. There actually have been few highlights since she and I returned from the States, but all in all, life is good and everyone is doing well.

It is now March, which means that the hot season is really starting to heat up. This weekend we went to the pool in the late afternoon, but on week days she usually staying cool in a bucket. We tend to store water in the "trash" can so that Comfort can wash diapers every day and we can take a bucket bath should the tap fail to flow and the tank runs out.

Note the tooth brush floating in the bucket.....that is all it is good for. Any advice on getting teeth brushed would be greatly appreciated.
